Local Councillor, John Scragg is standing for re-election to Chippenham Council in Lowden & Rowden in this year's local election.
John has represented the people of Lowden and Rowden on Chippenham Town Council since 1987 and has been Town Mayor three times. He is the Chair of the Wiltshire Association of Local Councils and speaks for Wiltshire towns and parishes at the National Assembly of Local Councils.
John's particular interest is public transport, and he chaired the Topic Group to develop policies for greener transport to be incorporated in the Chippenham Neighbourhood Plan now being drafted. He is also the Town Council's representative on the Chippenham Area Transport Group which works with Wiltshire Council to deliver measures to improve road safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
John's qualifications in finance and audit are used to good effect in ensuring that the Town Council delivers high quality services at the best value for money.
